Volunteer Opportunities

Are you looking to volunteer time to SOEP or PTA but are unsure of where to start?

Below are some of our current needs... We'd love to hear from you!

Join the PTA Board!

Silver Oak PTA board is looking for "a few good parents" to sit on the PTA Board for the next school year 2012-13. We are looking for three open positions and most volunteers serve a two year term.

  • Historian

The historian assembles and preserves the record of activities and achievements of the PTA . Collect and tally members’ volunteer hours from beginning of PTA year. Create a scrapbook of mementos, photos, press clippings, newsletters, flyers, etc.

  • Treasurer

The treasurer position is perfect for someone with a finance background or CPA or who is comfortable with numbers. Along with the president, this position helps generate the PTA budget. Inform committees of budgeted funds. Pay bills and reimbursements as required. Oversee ongoing PTA finances, ensure adherence to approved PTA budget. Prepare and present budget report for each PTA meeting.

  • Auditor

The PTA auditor is an elected officer and member of the executive board for the protection of the unit PTA. The auditor reconciles monthly bank statements and checks the taxes and other financial statements prepared by the Treasurer.

If you are interested in serving on the PTA Board or have any questions please feel free to contact any nominating committee members.

Be A Silver Oak Ambassador

Being a new family to Silver Oak can be overwhelming. The Silver Oak Ambassador program is designed to help new families feel more comfortable during their first year at Silver Oak. Being an Ambassador involves:

  • Contacting your assigned family to introduce yourself
  • Providing your contact information to the new family.
  • Sending out monthly/quarterly emails provided by Ambassador Program Chair
  • Answering questions and being a resource for your new family

Hours required: 1 hour a month (could be more if you choose)

Please note: depending on the type of relationship formed with your new family, the time involved could be more. The expectation for an Ambassador, however, is about 1 hour a month.
