Join the PTA Board!

Silver Oak PTA board is looking for "a few good parents" to sit on the PTA Board for the next school year 2012-13. We are looking for three open positions and most volunteers serve a two year term.

  • Historian

The historian assembles and preserves the record of activities and achievements of the PTA . Collect and tally members’ volunteer hours from beginning of PTA year. Create a scrapbook of mementos, photos, press clippings, newsletters, flyers, etc.

  • Treasurer

The treasurer position is perfect for someone with a finance background or CPA or who is comfortable with numbers. Along with the president, this position helps generate the PTA budget. Inform committees of budgeted funds. Pay bills and reimbursements as required. Oversee ongoing PTA finances, ensure adherence to approved PTA budget. Prepare and present budget report for each PTA meeting.

  • Auditor

The PTA auditor is an elected officer and member of the executive board for the protection of the unit PTA. The auditor reconciles monthly bank statements and checks the taxes and other financial statements prepared by the Treasurer.

If you are interested in serving on the PTA Board or have any questions please feel free to contact any nominating committee members.

Spring Choir Registration Now Open

Welcome to the online registration for Spring Choir!

This year, the spring choir is open to ALL students in grades 1-6 who want to share their singing talents. Being part of the choir takes real commitment so we encourage students to discuss their desire to join with parents.  Mandatory practices are scheduled every Tuesday afternoon from 2:20-3:00pm in G-4. There are no buses available at this time, so please make arrangements for your child to get home.  If needed, practices may extend until 3:15 closer to our Spring Performance, which is on Wednesday, May 30th, at 6:00pm. This year, we will be having a joint performance with those students that have been participating in the school band, so please mark your calendars. The first practice will be Tuesday, March 6th in G-4. There will be no practice on Tuesday, April 10th due to spring break. Two unexcused absences from rehearsals are grounds for dismissal from the choir.

There is a $20 fee to join. Due to limited space, priority is given to those students who register first and pay the $20 fee. There will be a maximum of 45 students accepted for this year's spring choir. Choir registration is online only this year. Registration will close on Friday, February 17th, or once all spaces are filled, whichever comes first. Don't delay... register now!
